How do osmosis and diffusion help an organism remain in homeostasis?

Both diffusion and osmosis are a process by which things move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Osmosis refers to the movement of water. By trying to maintain a geneous condition throughout the entire system the cell there by maintains homeostasis.
